How to track money sent from abroad, save or withdraw the money without having to go to traditional banks
Empathize - Define problem and goals - Discover needs - Design solutions - Deploy and test
💡 Many individuals want to have more control over the money sent to them, but they can’t
It is impossible to save money for later or for a different time because people need a way to track money sent to them by their family and friends via conventional money transfer platforms. Also, withdrawal is via bank only and no other means.
To develop a platform that enables users to track, save, spend, withdraw, and perhaps send money to others.
As a UX researcher, I created a plan that included user interviews, an analysis of alternative methods, and a competitive audit.
The main objective is to comprehend the difficulties potential users encounter, as well as their pain points, goals, and needs.
A competitive audit was conducted to familiarize me with the tracking and possible withdrawal process.
I Identified a couple of ways competitors provide tracking means for users
I conducted a total of six interviews with individuals who have received funds in the past few months.
💡 The goal is to understand the pain points and how each individual goes about withdrawing their funds.
Discovered some user types
I used empathy mapping to highlight significant research findings for all user types and aid decision-making. I prioritized focus points and identified the most crucial takeaways because they improved my understanding of the users through inferences drawn from their behaviors.
While each user type had different pain points, needs, and goals, it was evident what the takeaways are:
I moved on to start ideating and visualizing different flows that could make the experience straightforward, enjoyable, and satisfying.
Simplified but detailed Tracking Experience
Various Withdrawal methods
Card option for saving and easy spending.
I sent out the interactive prototype of the app to users and as much as they loved the experience of the app, its accessibility, and the feedback was great 85% of the users gave the comment that they would really use a product like this.
It was a fun and challenging experience with insights into how users really want to use products. Many thoughts came to mind as to what direction to go with for the project: to design an entirely new product or an aid product—a product that helps achieve a certain goal. It was really difficult to not design a product that will solve the problem and also compete with the present platforms offering major transfer services. The goal of this app is to solve a particular problem, so I had to put the solution to the problem above the ambitions or scalability of the product in its initial phase. The product is scalable, and with time, it can grow to become a competitor in its own right to other platforms out there.
